Staring into the ocean

At the beginning of the Dawn Treader, Lucy and Edmund are looking at a picture of a boat on the sea. As they look harder, they begin to see the waves moving and the ship rocking.

'She had just run up to the top of one glorious blue wave, and the nearer slope of that wave came down towards you with streaks and bubbles in it.'

I don't know how you imagine this wave, but the image by Hokusai's great wave comes to mind for me.

Lizzy Rowe from Magic Lantern has pointed me to some great resources they have created on this. So today, I'd encourage you to use our thinking routine, 'See, Think, Wonder' to look at this picture carefully. There are lots of details that are easy to miss.

Once you have used that routine, go to Magic Lantern's resource page which you can find here, and choose the level at which you would like to explore the picture, depending on your age.
