In the assembly I mentioned some poems by JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis. The ones by Tolkien can be listened to below. The first one was written by him when he was studying at Oxford in 1911. We found the 'many willow'd margin' he talks about and followed his story from there:
The second poem was written when he returned to Oxford for his graduation in 1916. He had completed his army training and was about to leave for battle in France. Listen to how he is able to find beauty and hope, even amid the sorrow which is enveloping him:
